Millerstown Recreational Committee Community Room, Park Building Wednesday, January 8, 2025 A. Call to Order: President, Dave Bratton called the meeting to order at 7:06pm. B. Present: Dave Bratton, Kelley Griswold, Mark Stoup, Teresa Hunker, Jack Cameron, George Moore, Willard Benner, and Ross Miller. C. Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the November 6, 2024 were approved as submitted. D. Treasurer’s Report: The treasurer’s report from January thru December 31, 2024 was accepted as presented. E. Committee Reports: a. Pool: The annual gun/cash raffle is in progress. The pool is filled with water for the winter (to equalize pressure that prevents the pool walls from being pushed in by expanding frozen ground). b. Baseball/Softball (GYSA): 1. Although approved at the last meeting to permit the GYSA to put in one large concession/storage shed, it might be wiser to have one larger building that both football and baseball could use. TBD. 2. Also approved on 11/6/24: Placing a rope or cable across the lane through the wooded area now that the summer and fall sports seasons are over. This has not been done yet. c. Football (GNMFA): No report d. Soccer: No new report, according to Ross. e. Annual contracts: where distributed to soccer and will be to football and baseball/softball. These must be signed and returned to MRC, ASAP F. Fund Raising: Lighted Christmas Trail: Because of very cold temperatures, fewer visitors and less donations this year. Several displays suffered wind damage. G. Building and Grounds report: a. Lighted trail tear-down: Will begin on Saturday 1/11. Priority will be to remove decorations along the trail before any possible flooding. b. The tractor needs repairs again. Dave Bratton will take it up to Land Pro. c. Telephone poles will be placed horizontally across the parking area when the tractor is repaired. d. New dog/pet policy at Park: Pets must be kept on a leash at all times in the Park. Signs are being posted. If people do not clean up after their pets, the next step will be to ban all pets from the Park. e. Drinking water system in Park building: The UV light system failed during the Grange’s New Year’s Day (1/1/25) pork and sauerkraut dinners. A temporary by-pass was used. Repairs will be made a.s.a.p. f. General Repairs List: 1. Repairs to stage roof and fascia – Still trying to find a lift-truck for making the repairs & wait for good weather. 2. The ceiling of the storage room (back entrance) needs repaired. 3. In the spring, some shingles on park building roof (river side) need to be replaced. 4. Floor of Community/meeting room needs repaired. 5. It was brought to our attention that small U.S.A. flags must be removed after a patriotic event has concluded and the big flag needs replaced. B. Other Old Business: A new volunteer reservations coordinator is needed. This person does not need to be on the MRC Board. For information to call Teresa. Posted on event sign along the road. C. New Business: Annual election of MRC board officers: It was moved by Willard and seconded by George and approved to keep the same officers for 2025.
