Millerstown Recreational Committee Community Room, Park Building Wednesday, May 7, 2025 A. Call to Order: President, Dave Bratton called the meeting to order at 7:07pm. B. Present: Dave Bratton, Jack Cameron, Kelley Griswold, Teresa Hunker, Willard Benner, George Moore, and Diane Schnauffer. C. Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the April 2, 2025 were approved as submitted. D. Treasurer’s Report: The treasurer’s report from January 1st thru April 30, 2025 was accepted as presented. E. Event Coordinator: We welcome new Event Coordinator Diane Schnauffer, replacing longtime E-C. Teresa Hunker. F. Committee Reports: a. Pool: Pool has been painted and is filling now. b. Baseball/Softball (GYSA): No report. c. Football (GNMFA): No report. d.Soccer: No report. G. Fund Raisers: See Up-coming events below H. Building and Grounds report: a. Spring clean-up: Kelley was unable to connect with Diamond Hile. It is apparent that the PCHS’s will not be helping with Park clean-ups. Any new organizations are welcome to volunteer. b. New Liberty Elm Tree: For the USA’s 250 anniversary celebration in 2026, a “Liberty Tree, a Princeton Elm Tree” has been planted in the center of the park, near the playground and Little Library. A plaque will be mounted on a rock and placed nearby. c. General Repairs List: 1. Telephone poles will be placed horizontally across the parking area where the pool’s blacktop ends. 2. Repairs to stage roof and fascia 3. The ceiling of the storage room (back entrance) is on hold for now 4. New dog policy signs stating: “Dogs must be on a leash at all times” have not been posted yet. 5. Community Room floor needs repaired. 6. Large tree branches need to be cleaned up after spring storms, especially near the BBQ pit. 7. Christmas lights wrapped around trees still need to be removed. Big ladder necessary. I. New Business: a. Event Coordinator: We welcome new Event Coordinator Diane Schnauffer, replacing longtime E-C. Teresa Hunker. Safe Serve Course to be planned: The Millerstown Boro received a call from the Dept. of Agriculture, regarding an anonymous report filed with their office regarding the cleanliness of the baseball concession stand. Willard was notified by the Boro Secretary. Willard discussed the matter with the baseball league president. The reported matter was addresses and confirmed that it will be resolved before opening day. Plans are underway to host a future Safe Serve course for park volunteers. J. Up-coming events: a. Tuesdays this summer at 6:30 at the stage – Yoga practice lead by Karen Pelton $5/session b. May 26 – Memorial Day Program at 9:00am(?) at Park’s Vet. Monument. All Welcome c. May 28 – Greenwood H.S. Seniors’ Baccalaureate Program, 6:00pm, at the stage. d. June 11 – Elvis Show (Denny Heckert) Donations collected during program e. July 4, Friday – HSO Concert at 7:30 f. July 12 – Car Show (rain date - July 19) g. September 17 - Pool Fall Fest h. October 5 Fire Dept. practice i. October 18 – Parktober Fest (rain-date – Oct. 25) j.
